Air Quality Testing Can Measure Mold Levels in Your Home

Air Quality Testing can detect mold even if it cannot be seen.

One type of mold test we offer is air quality testing. Air quality testing could be in order in a situation where someone's getting sick in the house and they're not sure why and they want to eliminate maybe the possibility of mold that may be present, but is either invisible to the naked eye, or in a place where it cannot be easily seen.

We start by determining how much mold is in the air that we breathe in while in your home. We take a 5 minutes sample of the air circulating in the room and I send this off to a lab.

We also take a test to determine the mold levels outside of the home. We do this to determine a baseline to determine what is naturally in the environment so that we can compare the amount of mold found on the inside to naturally occurring mold in the outside air. No matter what you're going to have some level of mold in your home no matter what your house was just built, or if it is an older home. Mold occurs naturally in the outside air so it has a chance to enter our homes when we are opening and closing doors or windows.

Once we have the indoor and outdoor air samples we compare the two. For example, if we find penicillium aspergillus in the outside air, we want to know at what level that particular mold is found in the inside.

If we start seeing that the levels of mold in the house are exceeding what is outside the house then we know we have some type of problem and further investigation needs to be determined to find the source of the mold if there is no visible evidence of mold prior to the air quality testing
